MiniDV transfer files to your computer?
I own a Panasonic 3CCD camcorder (PV-GS120) with an SD Card and MiniDV. How do I get footage from MiniDV to my computer? I'm a little USB and two AV inputs on the side of the camera, but I can only seem to get still pictures on my hard drive (via a USB cable), but not the video? Is there some type of "firewire" that I have to buy and are they universal? Thank you.
a miniDV VCAM be DV ~ Firewire400 **- connected computer to upload video through video editing * application or captured, while VCAM is during playback. The majority of (digital) tape VCAM has 4-pin DV ports before cable purchases ** Check PC or Mac to the DV port (VCAM @ 4-pin => firewire BOX => PC @ 4 / 6-pin?). If none, install firewire card: PCI-to-desktop or PCMCIA / Express to the laptop. Apple released its seventh version: iMovie 08 as a replacement for iMovie HD 6 in August 2007, which is considered by many users quite different from previous versions. It is without doubt a brand new tool in good faith to offer simple and quick editing to the Mac user. And it actually produced much sensation shortly after its appearance.
Everyday, you see comments flooding in various websites large or small, famous or common about this newborn animals, some positive but most negative. To be accurate, This tool was strongly criticized as being simplistic lethal, having abandoned most of the features that existed in previous versions. These discarded features can be entered without delay, as there is no timeline, no DVD chapter marker and plugins support, no sound and visual effects, no themes, no pause control titles, in addition, it can not extract, control and adjust the audio clip can not open old films in the earlier versions of iMovie can not open more than one project, etc.
Still, there are some admiring voice. People who are in favor of iMovie 08 are those who are new to Mac or iMovie or not good at video or film editing. And they think it is easy to use and understand and can provide a simple, intuitive, fast and flexible way to do some basic editing. In fact, iMovie, although far from being a professional application is not as hobbled as it first appeared, there are still outstanding features that can be expected from this simple program: such as the add support For camcorder, offering simplified drag-and-drop editing, add text, background music, transition and still images can add to iTunes and publish on network, stocks finished movie in iTunes for easy viewing of your iPod, iPhone, Apple TV etc.
title = "import DVD into iMovie 08"> iMovie 08: Adds support for DVD camcorder
iMovie 08 works with many tape less camcorders, including those that record on DVDs, which uses MPEG-2 (standard definition) and AVCHD (high definition). Which greatly improves the user experience with iMovie, what you need is a USB cable and some types of video camera (Cannon HR 10 for instance) that record on DVDs. You connect the camcorder to your iMac via USB cable, open iMovie 08, so that everything will go smoothly.
Attention must payable to iMovie
Although iMovie is said to add support for DVD camcorder, there are still problems when they do actually import and edit in iMovie which I know can fall following categories and may be more:
Situation 1: "Because of the wide range of media types and the different ways produces save videos of these media types, not all tape less camcorders are compatible with iMovie 08th "
Situation 2: iMovie 08 is supposed to work with many tape less video cameras that using the MPEG-2 (standard definition), but some DVD camcorder, take Cannon DC 2, for example, can produce both standard and high definition MPEG-2 files how iMovie 08 will deal with this?
Situation 3: Some DVD video without any reason can produce non-MPEG-2 or AVCHD files that are compatible with iMovie, this is a very common phenomenon that can not be overlooked.
Situation 4: Some DVD camcorders can only run on specific systems or iMovie versions, for example requires Panasonic HDC-DX1 Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 or later and iMovie 7.1.1 or later.
..........
Keys to the problems:
Do worry, there are still opportunities to help you.
Option 1: You can use a program called VisualHub to convert your DVD to DV files, iMovie 08 works perfectly with this file format.
Option 2: Use Movie Converter for Mac, which until recently, I have found a 100% pure and perfect program that can relieve all Their worries perfect just a test.
DVD to iMovie 08 "> Movie Converter for Mac: right for you
Movie Converter for Mac is a powerful 2-in-1 program that integrates DVD Ripper and Video Converter into a single package to suit both home and commercial DVDs, which fits into iMovie 08 and the second version too. 08 "> Mac Movie Converter has been improved, which can run on all types of iMac systems, including the recently released Mac OS X Snow Lepoard. It can provide you with versatile editing functions you can make your own videos. For example, you can choose your favorite DVD clips to convert from Trim, crop off unwanted parts from the DVD clip of Crop, there are special effect, as Gray, Emboss and Old movies, you can also specify specific output parameters for video and audio. Moreover, the whole process can be seen from the Preview window.
