What should I be looking for in an HD camcorder?
I am in getting an HD camcorder in the next few weeks and im not sure what spec. I will be looking for when looking for HD camcorders. I will be getting some professional use out of your camcorder. Including short films and music videos. At this point in my career I used to look at the big shoulder cams until demand requires it, im just now looking more for HD Handy cams. I am currently looking to buy Sony HDR-SR12 or Canon VIXIA HG21 or Panasonic HDC-HS100. With the problems associated with hard drive-based camcorder - it is known that they can not handle vibrations (loud music, high crouds, noisy engines, noisy something), has high altitude (low barometric pressure will cause the disk heads to remain parked) problems of 9800 feet, data recovery issues (non-removable memory), additional steps to make data file archives, hard disk camcorders are generally not recommended - and are not typically used by real professionals. Hi I have just sent some old tapes I recorded at 97 on my Sony camcorder UK. I now lives in the U.S. and no longer have the camcorder. If I buy a Samsung SLC810 Hi8 camcorder, which says it played in PAL or NTSC multi-system - I will be able to play these tapes is really important to me? I do not want to send the tape anywhere to be converted incase they lose or damage them. If anyone knows another camera or another option so let me know. Samsung sales brochure states it can play in PAL for people on vacation in Europe. My understanding is that an NTSC camera Recording in a different format and can not read the PAL format to play it again, although motif searching?

And if it is sad but true case, can the digital zoom is deactivated during shooting, leaving active only the optical zoom so that the zoom is optical instead digital, in order to capture a clear and well defined picture, instead of a fuzzy, pixel images? Similarly, just for knowledge purposes, can the optical zoom be deactivated simultaneously active only digital zoom?

I want to transfer some of the shows and movies that I have on my DVR to my Sony Digital 8 camcorder?
via firewire its a motorla dvr 5 months on and I have Cox Communications. it has 2 FireWire ports on the back, and I got the correct cable to match the port and I tried to connect the camera to the I had the camera on VCR and it was not anything on the LCD screen! I tried the other port still nothing! I thought it would be so easy. the maual that came with said that it is just for audio and video equipment, a camcorder is perfect for it! is it possible that the port isn't active yet, though I think its supposed there is somethig wrong im doing? I just thought what I had on TV that it would be on the LCD screen on the camera. or maybe the only one to upload video to the DVR from your camera?

I will try to get a USB connector. You can problably find one online, Yahoo, Walmart, etc. When you connect your video camera up, it pops up as a unit. So I would take the footage and put it into Windows Movie Maker.
