As the video camera should I buy?
I want to buy one that is light weight, DVD-quality video, and preferably having a removable media type. (eg, DVD, etc.) Pls also tell me why. This question is model specific.
If you can find a Canon Elura 100, it is the one to get. It has a few mistakes, but the video quality is great and it has some features not typically found on entry level camcorders. Remember, it is a miniDV camcorder, which means to the tape recording. DV is a better format than DVDs and are much easier to edit. If you want simple and you are willing to trade quality for convenience, you can get a DVD (or HDD) camcorders. But be prepared to pay more, have less flexibilty in editing, and have lower overall video quality. The upside is that you can see what you have recorded almost immediately. Just pop the DVD out and play it in a normal DVD player ... well, not exactly, you still have to finish the first DVD. ft

Specifications are pretty Nill with this one. The screen is small (1.5 inches) and not swing out for self-portraits. None yet shot. There are no options, no menu buttons, no light, no lens cap and no memory. No optical zoom, only 2 x digital zoom. The entire unit is pocket size, has three buttons, play, stop and trash. No battery, works with AA batteries (alkalines last about 2 hours and the rechargeables around 5 hours).
No tapes or disks, all footage is downloaded via attached USB connector that pops out at 90 degrees to the camera body that plug into your computer and download the recordings. The Flip icon appears on the screen as if it is a disc. When you open it, you will find a folder full of video clips you can play, copy to your hard drive and burn to DVD and edit in most standard editing programs. All this requires a one-time installation of a special codec (a video-format translator). You can also use a special cable to connect it to the TV and watch movies.
You can also take Flip with a CVS or other participating business, where they will make you a DVD for $ 13th
The whole filming process is: Press the red button once to register and once to stop. Press play to review the video and then trash to delete the scene. Thats it?
Yes it is! It is the most simple of digital camcorders that fit into the anywhere and everywhere and are easy enough for a child to keep. It's size makes it possible to go anywhere and everywhere where a traditional camcorder may not, as a purse, beach bag or pocket. It is robust, so you can take it skiing, to the playground, while playing a sport and virtually anywhere where you might have to shoot some clips. And if you get acrylic accessory case (retails: $ 50) you can even take that water!
With all this simplicity, the Flip delivers an amazingly good picture quality. It has TV resolution (640 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second). The image is surprisingly good, not as good as high definition digital video cameras or tape, but for the price and simplicity of the Flip definitely earn a spot on the top digital cameras list. The most amazing feature is Flip's low-light ability that surpasses even the most expensive of digital camcorders. Not only is the video grain-free, but recorded dim scenes actually look brighter than they looked to the naked eye. Retail Price: $ 149.99 with a max 60 minute recordings.
