What is the best amateur video camera for projecting a movie on a big screen?
I want to try to make a film to to be projected onto a large screen for a local fringe Filmfest. There is no text, just music overlay. I am quite new here so do not laugh. I have used my flip video For Web and DVDs with success but not sure that works for projecting on a large screen. The application does not mention the 35 mm so I assume that a DVD is fine, but what is the cheapest type of video camera I could use for this because I really have no money. Ps. This does not look professional, I just want to be able to recognize what is on screen, and not get laughed out of place.
They have not provided any budget ... The BEST consumer would be a Canon HV30 or Sony HDR-HC9. BEST "Prosumer" One would be a Sony HDR-FX1000. If the video is captured in good light, almost all camcorders will be fine if the data standard DV or HDV. This includes the Canon ZR900, ZR930 or Sony DCR-HC52. If you have given full video with your Flip - and it looks fine to you on a large television screen * it * should be quite similar to an even larger projected screen. Perhaps there is a nearby electronics store (Fry's, Circuit City, BestBuy, etc.) where you can take your DVD and get them to do a "test" for you to use their test / floor model, video projectors, so you can see for yourself ... If the content is compelling, and well-done, content source (a flip video camera) does not mean anything - and nobody will know what you have spent unless you tell them.
