How do you clean the iris on a GE 9-9806 camcorder?
My parents have a General Electric Camcoder Model 9-9806. They have no picture when they return camera. They took it a while ago to an electronics store and the owner said that the iris was dirty and needed to be cleaned. The shop is not open longer, and my dad wants to know if he can do it yourself. Any ideas how someone would clean up a rainbow for this type of camera? I think you're probably right, it is broken with time but is there any other reason that we would not get a picture on the viewfinder or on tape?
Iris was dirty? Unless your camera has been buried in mud or something, I think it would be very difficult for the iris to be so dirty that you will not even get a picture. The most likely cause is that the camera is simply broken with time. It is a VHS camera after all, so it's pretty old, so the best you can do in this case is getting a new camera. The two most common rechargeable batteries are NiCd and lithium ion. The lithium are usually preferred because they charge faster, are easier than others and have a longer life. Most full charges give a battery 6 hours of life.
