What is the best quality format to capture HD video cameras?
Hard drive? SD card? DV tape? Please give as much detail as you want, but please answer only in terms of quality of the video. I do not care about price, amenities, or other factors.
Data Rate is a measure of quality. Tape has the highest data rate, 25 Mbps, and HDV is MPEG2 encoded, the same as HDTV television. JVC Everio models did something with 30 Mbps MPEG2 on the HDD, but no more. Most of the better hard drive memory and HD using the AVCHD that has a data rate of only 12 Mbps, unless you get the latest version, which is 24 Mbps, and hence "almost" HDV quality. And last is MPEG4 encoded HD is strictly youtube / internet class.

Sony HDR-TG3E camcorder is one of the smallest HD camcorders available. It is so small you can fit in your shirt pocket the TG3 is ideal to take anywhere.
The TG3 features titanium with a scratch resistant coating to ensure that it stays injury free when you carry it with you. The HDRTG3 takes Sony Memory Stick Duo with the small in size.
