Jvc Camcorder Fix

Final Cut 6 will not recognize my JVC camcorder, even though iMovie will. Should I change anything? HELP?

I have a new iMac with Final Cut Pro 6 I have a JVC 30 GB internal hard drive camcorder, and I can not seem to get them to connect. I'm not sure if I need to change settings, or if I just can not get them to swallow. Also, when I put a DVD (which I have put recorded stuff) Final Cut Pro can not use format. If I bought Toast Titanium, it would solve some of my problems?? I am new to all this, and I need someone to talk to.

1) Normally, mount the hard disk drives (and flash memory) Camcorder to the desktop, you can copy video files for Mac, convert video files using StreamClip (or Handbrake, see below) http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html into a format that iMovie and FinalCut like (such as. mov,. mp4,. dv or. HDV among others). When files are converted, quit StreamClip, Start video editor and drag the converted Files to Log / Capture area or directly to the timeline. 2) Most video editors do not deal well with VOB files burned onto DVD for playback in standard DVD players. Download and install handbrake http://handbrake.fr/ and use it to rip video from DVD to a format your video editor can deal with. When files are converted, quit handbrake, Start video editor and drag the converted files to the Log / Capture area or directly to the timeline.
