Sony Camcorder 2000x Zoom

What is better 10x Op. Zoom or 40x optical zoom?

Hello I recently purchased a Sony camcorder model DCR-HC38 which has 40x optical zoom and 2000x digital zoom. I paid around $ 330 for it. not a lot of accessories are compatible with it. So I sat and looked at the Sony DCR-HC96 model. This has extra functions are compatible with many accessories and cost $ 800. But the zoom on this one is 40x optical and 120 digital. So I was wondering why that is? Are more zoom better? Tell me everything you know on camera and zoom, etc. Thank you.

general optical zoom is better than digital zoom. the more zoom, the more u can enlarge ur recording, etc. .. I think the answer on ur question is ... if you will be able to zoom more, the one bought u do the job. but if u wan ur camcorder to have more accessories, Sony DCR-HC96 is ur choice. Hope this helps.
