Sony Camcorder Wireless
I have a Sony DCR-TRV330 camcorder. Can I use a wireless lapel microphone. with this camera?
I was wondering if it could be used by plug-in port the power supply?
If the "plug-in power" port is a 1 / 8 "(3.5mm) audio in jack, so yes, you can - if the wireless lapel microphone uses this connection. The wireless lavalieres I use either Shure or Senheiser. MIC element is using a thin wire to connect to a body pack. Body pack is battery powered and transmit the wireless audio signal to a base station. My Shure base is great - can rack mounted - and uses an AC power supply (wall wart) to power. Sennheiser base is portable and battery operated. Both base stations connect with a cable with XLR connectors. Both my Sony camcorder has a 1 / 8 "stereo audio in jack ... so to go from XLR to 1 / 8 "connectors I use either a juicedLink or BeachTek XLR adapter ... so the base XLR cable to XLR adapter and XLR adapter connects to the camcorder's 1 / 8" audio in connector. Audio Technica and Sony (professional) make good UHF wireless Lavsen also. There are a few others that are good - but I have nothing to say about Samson and Nady. Do not waste your time with FM, 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz or 5.4 GHz - they are all "shared" bands and susceptible to interference. VHF is acceptable - UHF is the best. Chances are good that when you set the mono-cellular low body package directly to the audio-in connector, only one side (right?) of audio recording. This is another reason to XLR Adapter - when set to mono, both left and right audio channels will record the same thing.
