Can I use a 4-pin to 4-pin IEEE 1394 cable to connect a DV camcorder to my Inspiron 1520 notebook.?

I used to use a 4-pin to 6-pin on my old dell desktop. I would plug the 4 pin side of the camcorder and 6 feet in FireWire port on my computer soundcard. Now I have a notebook and I noticed a 4-pin port on the side of it, can I have a 4-pin to 4-pin cable and connect my camcorder to the laptop?

What is the best cable to transfer hi-8 video to DV tape, using video cameras?

I tried to transfer video from a Sony analog camera to a Canon MV850i camcorder using the AV out and AV in, but the image has a licensed bar across the bottom and is poor quality. I think my cable is not be true. It is a 3.5 mm cable (male / male) that I used to sound, but I do not know if it is designed for video.

How do I copy the video from my camcorder to a DVD?

I have a Sony camcorder (digital) can record on a mini DV cassette. I have a PC with a DVD-ReWriter drive and a cable to connect the two. I have also installed the driver for your video camera and some of the software, but it only seems to record in mp3 format to my PC and not directly to a DVD. This uses up so much space and still no copy on DVD! whatcan I do?

I copy from a Sony Mini-DV camcorder directly to a Sony DVD recorder via Firewire (iLink) and avoid the PC completely .. You can copy on the fly. You control the camera via the DVD recorder. very easy
