How can I install applications on my mac?

I have a macbook pro and I've tried to install prgrams (video program, image editor etc.) Anyone who ever show up are documents in my "Downloads" widget. if I try and click on it, all it does is shown in TextEdit. theres nothing I could do with it. im not see anything that says install. Please help!

Most Mac programs are simply a bundled offer. App file that you copy to the Applications folder and double click. Is HD stored on a standard DVD as good as HD in a blu-ray?

Many people dont know you can store hd on a normal dvd and watch it from a standard dvd player, so long as you dvd player is connected with an HDMI lead to an hd tv. hd is just a file after all so you can actually store it on a cd or an sd card even, although you would only get about 10 minutes of footage on, which is why you can get hd camcorders that record onto sd cards and mini dv. But...is hd coming rom a blu-ray any better than from a mini-dv or dvd? Please dont answer telling me about how blu-ray can store more etc, i know all that and i know you cant play blu-rays on a dvd. What im asking is, is hd content stored and played on a dvd with an hdmi enabled dvd player as good in quality as from a blu-ray player or does the blu-ray laser stream more information at once?

You can only play a HD file if your DVD player is capable or reading the file, Which means it must be a HD compatible player. You can't just play it with any DVD player.

As you say, HD is just a file, but it is not the same standard as a DVD file.
A DVD file is never higher than 800*600 in terms of resolution, and a normal DVD/DIVX player is NOT capable of reading a file of 1280*768 resolution which is the smallest standard HD file.

I recorded on a 30 min. DVD using the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD105. I was not aware that since I was recording I went over by almost 1 min. It did not warn me that I only had such and such time back or stop it from shooting, it just kept to go. When I try to close it, it stops halfway through, and will not quit. I can not get it to play on my computer, since it is not finalized, and if I see it on the camcorder itself, it gives me an access error and flashes C: 13:02 ". I have read so many things to say you can not edit video this camcorder, but is there anything I can do to erase some of the video, then maybe I can finish it and play it on my computer or is it simply a junk DVD now?

As the video camera should I buy?

Hi I would like to buy a camcorder to make home-made short films / student films. I am in a dilemma between Sony XR500V and Panasonic TM-300. Which one is better? Which one should I get? I know sony is missing the manual iris and other manual adjustments, but I got the impression that Panasonic is unreliable ..
