Better to buy a camcorder that takes still pictures or a camera that takes videos?
I want something that takes both pictures and video. What is best? Would a camera takes videos that are nice and up to several minutes long as a camcorder? All brands / models you recommend? Thank you!
I'm guessing you will take most pictures and a few short videos of a couple of minutes, not a complete football game. So here is my suggestion. Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP Digital Camera with 6x optical image stabilization is a good choice, and you can read about it and the user review on Amazon.com. We have produced a DVD of our trip to DC and Branson, with photos and movies, and it turned out great. There is really no best camera, but I know Canon makes great them and I have 5 of them all with slightly different characteristics. A camcorder is fine for movies, but really you will give up a lot to take images as one of the other posters here said. Get out there and start shooting with the new camera as soon as you receive it and have a ball. Bob
