How can I convert a DVD to VHS?

Okay, so I'm doing a project for one of my classes. I make a commercial use of my computer and I need to be able to play it on a VHS tape in class. I just wanted to make a DVD, but you never know when they will decide not to work at different machines in school [I've had problems before], and this project is worth a lot of pointing at my class. Also, I do not have a real tape recorder or video camera or what I used a digital camera to get my movies. However, I have both a VCR & a DVD player. So I need to know how I can convert DVD to VHS

If the DVD you created play on your DVD player, it will more likely than not played on any DVD player. A good idea would be to use DVD to your initial presentation media ... if the DVD does not play, you can use a tape as a backup. Just connect the outgoing connections on the DVD player to input connections on the VCR. So all you have to do is put your DVD and VHS tape in, press play on the DVD player and record on the VCR.

DVD Duplication of Old Vhs Tapes

Do you still have old copies of VHS video tapes stacked on our home and office bookshelves collecting dust? If you are like me, you have a video player sitting disconnected underneath your DVD player.

If you are in the same boat, then you will be happy to know that the copying process of switching valuable content from VHS tapes over via DVD duplication is really quite easy. It's a great way to preserve and also share your old tapes, whether personal or business related.

The process of converting to a DVD basically requires a VHS tape player, or a camcorder. Simply plug either the camcorder or the VHS tape player into your PC, as long as your computer has the ports for plugging in these devices in. You also need a minimum of 512 MB of RAM and a 2 GHz processor, plus about 20 GB of hard drive free space. Your computer also requires a CD-RW drive. You will also need a video editing software program.

There are several conversion options if you want to transfer VHS tapes to DVDs, and if produced properly, the DVDs can look even better than the original VHS tapes including formats such as VHS-C, SVHS, Hi8, regular, as well as Betas. Here are a few tips on how to do this.

First you will need to capture a VHS video to a computer video editing program using an analog-to-DVD converter. You would otherwise need to encode it to MPEG-2 format, then publish your DVD. This provides some flexibility to edit the video as you wish by adding transitions, music or special effects. One drawback is that it is time consuming.

You could also capture the video to your computer as an MPEG-2 using hardware capture devices that will convert VHS to MPEG-2, then author the DVD. Some inexpensive hardware analog-to-MPEG boxes offer good quality because the analog source video does not have to be converted to DV before it's encoded to MPEG.

Last, the fastest and easiest way to convert VHS to DVD is to connect your VHS VCR or camcorder to a standalone DVD recorder. This works like a VCR, and the VHS to DVD recorder basically gives you a DVD copy of your tape in real time. However it is important to make sure your analog video is of the best quality possible because any flaws in the original video tape might be magnified when encoded to MPEG-2 and then converted to the DVD.

It takes very little time to copy VHS tape to DVD. If you are not the type to take on this kind of project yourself, a DVD authoring and production house will be happy to handle it for you by way of their own conversion and DVD authoring processes.

How do you transfer a memory [i watch video] to a VHS tape?

-Addition is their a camcorder that u can put in an ordinary videotape and record?

Your camcorder should have A / V OUT jack (the red / white / yellow) that came with it. Hook them into your VCR, throw in a blank tape, hit play on video camera and record on the VCR. There are some old VHS that you can put in the VHS and record, but they are pretty big and bulky. Most people get Mini-DV or mini-DVD or HDD camcorder these days because they are smaller, lighter, easier to use and has more features for editing, while still in the camera.

Ten years ago the answer to the question of what are the different types of video cameras would be analogous. Analog video cameras used to record VHS videotapes, were heavy, big and bulky, because they contained a great video recorder, along with the lens and camera equipment and had almost no options to choose from.

As with all other camcorders have come a long way, and today with digital technology the answer to the question of what are the different types of video cameras has grown enormously. Today there are digital and digital video cameras that are sophisticated while being user friendly, compact and provide a fun, easy and accessible film making experience for all.

The type of a digital camcorder, primarily centered around the use of media and specifically about his shooting ability and storage device. There are several types of video cameras and select the right for you usually depends on that function, it affects both usability and price.

MiniDV Camcorder: The type of MiniDV camcorders are small, sleek and stylish mostly due to the fact that it uses very small MiniDV cassettes as a storage device. The recorded video is then transferred to a PC via the FireWire port on your PC and downloading. Once edited and finished you can burn the finished video on a DVD. This is a very popular and common type of camcorder. The video and audio quality is very good.

Micro Camcorder: The Micro also use tape, but they are much smaller than MiniDV tapes and Micro uses advanced compression technology. Micro MV records high quality video and possess the ability for full digital editing. The Micro is also very compact, lightweight and ultra small.

DVD Camcorder: With this type of camcorder you can record video directly to a DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM.

DVD-R is a recordable DVD format with a write-once only capability. DVD-RW is a DVD, but it allows rewrites and so provides unlimited writing to the same disk. DVD-RAM or DVD-Random Access Memory is a DVD disc that can be recorded with information, erased and recorded again. DVD-RAM is considered as a very reliable format that the discs have built-in error checking and a defect management system. Therefore, DVD-RAM is perceived to be better than other DVD technologies.

There are two versions of DVD-Type Digital Camcorders: A works with writeable DVD-RAM discs require a DVD player with RAM playback or a PC with a DVD-RAM drive. The other works by the more popular DVD-RW and DVD-R (DVD-RW) discs that work with most standard DVD players and allow for the actual recording of images to DVD disc. A great feature of this recording format is the ability to edit in-camera and with repeated playbacks the disk does not degrade.

HDD Digital Camcorders: Hard Disk Drive camcorders are types that are compact and recording in MPEG-2 video stored on an internal hard drive in your camcorder. The upside of this type of camcorder is the ability to store massive amounts of video data using compression. The video is stored on internal hard disk camcorder and then downloaded to a computer and burned to a DVD. HDD camcorder has no moving parts, and so there is less chance mechanical breakdown.

Flash Media Camcorder: This format records images to an internal flash drive and flash memory cards. Flash Memory cards, SD, CompactFlash, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Duo.

Digital 8: This format records digital video to Hi-8 videotapes. Digital 8 is a consumer digital videotape format developed by Sony, and was introduced in 1999. Digital 8 camcorder uses the same videocassettes as analog Hi8 equipment, but differs in that the audio / video signal is encoded digitally. Image quality is quite good, and this format allows playback of analog videotapes recorded on Hi-8 camcorders.

VHS Camcorders: These types of camcorders still record to VHS tape, but the data are recorded digitally. Picture quality is quite good, and this format allows playback of analog videotapes.

The Wonderful World of High-Def: High definition is a beautiful thing and HDV Digital Camcorders record and store data in full 1920x1080 resolution. The most expensive of the bunch, High Definition Video camcorders usually use MiniDV tape or hard disk for record and record video. The high-resolution recording provides the highest quality and clarity that gives the most amazing video image of any video cameras on the market today and it looks great on high definition television.

The key to choosing the right type camcorder for you is to determine your personal needs and to find a happy medium between usability and price. While the price differs among the many types of video cameras, one thing is true of all cameras are an expensive investment. An important fact to consider is that the Internet has created a forum where millions of sellers and merchants compete for your business, and that competition is a lot of money saving opportunities, retail is no longer the only option, and lots of money can be saved by purchasing a discount digital video camera instead of paying retail.
